Hey fellow bingewatchers, have I got a scoop for you! As you may know, Netflix is known for its great success with their original series and have even gotten several nominations for the upcoming Emmy Awards. With shows such as House of Cards and Orange is the new Black leading the way to higher streaming ratings and new customers, it was only a matter of time before the network started producing more programs. They have successfully premiered diverse and interesting new shows such as: Bloodline, Grace and Frankie and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to name a few. Well, it was recently announced that there was an upcoming show premiering in August titled: Narcos. This new series will feature the rise of the war on drugs that took place in Miami in the 1980's. A subject that has only grown more popular throughout the years in terms of film, television and more. It will focus mainly on the rise of the Colombian Cartel as well as Pablo Escobar who was one of the most notorious drug lords of all time. Growing up in Miami, this is not a new subject, but it is an interesting one. And after seeing the preview, I am very excited to see how Netflix portrays what was one of the biggest drug eras in the U.S. Check out the preview below:

It's a very sad day today after hearing the loss of Amanda Peterson. Being and 80's movie addict, I can tell you that I am still in shock over this news. Amanda was a talented actress having started her career early as one of her first roles was in the 1982 version of Annie. With several roles in both television and film, her most famous role was playing the unattainable cheerleader in 1987's "Can't Buy Me Love". In the height of 1980's teen angst movies including the prominent John Hughes era, "Can't Buy Me Love" held it's own with great characters, music and style. This led to it being held as one the cult 80's teen romantic comedies. Having retired from acting after 1994, she retired back to her hometown of Colorado where she passed away today. There isn't much information yet as to what led to her death other than her father stating that she has some illness as well as Sleep Apnea, which they believe had some measure in her passing. The last photos that she had posed for were in 2012. So with this sad news, I would like to send you off with one of the most memorable scenes from "Can't Buy Me Love"..... RIP Amanda, you will be missed! |
